Visit Britain’s We’re Good To Go Certificate Awarded

We're good to go in Oxford - Visit England

I’m delighted to announce that Sandfield Guest House has been awarded Visit Britain’s Good To Go Certificate.

“We’re Good To Go” is the official UK mark to signal that a tourism and hospitality business has worked hard to follow Government and industry COVID-19 guidelines and has a process in place to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing.

Efforts continue in earnest to get Sandfield House ready to open its doors.  Now that work to ensure Government guidelines are satisfied the challenge is to maintain & enhance its reputation for excellent service & comfort.

Infection Free & Still Trading – KEY WORKERS ONLY

Sandfield House continues to remain infection free & for KEY WORKERS ONLY is still welcoming guests on a room only basis at a massively discounted rate.

Recent developments in the fight against Coronavirus have affected everyone in ways that were inconceivable at the turn of the year.  Still, the local community here in Headington is pulling together to help its residents and Key Workers on the front line in the 5 major hospitals in the neighbourhood.

Community stores are popping up, action & support groups are gaining traction and, where possible, businesses are doing their utmost to repurpose, adapt & improve on a new way of life.

The whole is greater than the sum of the parts!

Coronavirus Update – still clear & still welcoming guests!

Further to my post on 17th March 2020 concerning my daughter I am pleased to say that she has steadily held a natural temperature of less than 37C ever since she arrived home.

So, Sandfield House is still clear of the virus & I am still welcoming guests with open arms!

This doesn’t mean that activity here has relaxed – I continue to work hard with the utmost vigilance & care in maintaining hygiene here at Sandfield Guest House.  Actions introduced in the last few weeks include:

  • A hand sanitising station in the porch with a notice for visitors to use it before even touching the front door, the door handles or doorbell.
  • All of such surfaces are disinfected 4 times a day & on an ad hoc basis when their use is noted.
  • Sanitisers, tissues & a dedicated pedal-bin have been placed at the entrance to the Dining Room in the Hall.
  • All guest rooms are equipped with hand-sanitiser, anti-bacterial handwash, tissues & public advice notices.
  • Public notice signage & handwashing guides have been distributed throughout the premises.
  • House-keeping has been geared up to disinfect frequent-contact-surfaces (handles, switches, remotes, bannisters, etc) as part of the daily routine.
  • Extra care is taken with food preparation – I use latex gloves when preparing breakfast & my hand-cleaning is fastidious.

Stay safe, stay strong & be kind,

Paul

IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR ALL GUESTS – Coronavirus

This evening we were asked to collect our 1 year old daughter from nursery because she had a temperature of 37.9C.  The nursery’s procedure is now to exclude any child whose temperature exceeds 37.8C & their siblings in line with current UK Government advice.  As such, our daughter (& 3 year old son) have now been asked not to attend nursery for 14 days (until 31st March 2020).

Neither I nor my wife nor our son exhibit symptoms of any kind.

As such, it is only right that you are fully appraised of the circumstances.  Sandfield Guest House will continue to welcome guests (armed with this information) up to & until my wife, son or I exhibit symptoms or the Government decides that all guest houses must close their doors.

I extend the offer of a full refund to any guests who decide not to stay at Sandfield House as a result.

For those guests who do wish to keep their bookings but would prefer not to take breakfast, I offer a £7.50/person per night discount.

We continue to maintain the utmost vigilance & care in maintaining hygiene here at Sandfield Guest House.  Actions introduced in the last couple of weeks include:

It is my hope that this information will not impact your decision to book your stay at Sandfield Guest House but fully understand if you prefer to cancel your booking.  If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to ask them!

Best wishes, stay safe,

Paul

Coronavirus / Covid 19 Updated Reassurance

Sandfield Guest House remains free from Coronavirus!

As of today, the additional measure of placing hand sanitiser in all guest bedrooms has been taken.  Whilst soap and water remain the most effective way of maintaining hygiene we would like to give guests the option!

Thank you for remaining vigilant!

Novel-Coronavirus (Covid-19)… reassurance

I’d like to reassure visitors that Sandfield Guest House remains free of Covid-19 & that every precaution is being taken in order to help protect guests, any visitors, my family & Sandfield Guest House as a business.

The following actions have been taken as part of ongoing efforts to slow the spread of Covid-19:

* A hand sanitising station has been set up in the porch with a notice for visitors to use it before even touching the front door, the door handles or doorbell.

* All of these surfaces are disinfected 4 times a day as well as on an as hoc basis when their use is noted.

* Sanitisers, tissues & dedicated pedal-bins have been placed in all public areas & dining room ( I am working on sourcing enough sanitiser to place in all guest rooms & as soon as sufficient is acquired will be doing so)

* Public notice signage & handwashing guides have been distributed throughout the premises including guest rooms.

*House-keeping has been geared up to disinfect frequent-contact-surfaces (handles, switches, remotes, etc) as part of the daily routine.

Vigilance, high standards of hygiene and accurate information will go a long way in helping limit the spread of this virus and I intend to maintain all here at Sandfield Guest House… Stay tuned for updates!

PS: don’t expect me to shake your hand if you knock at the door… it’s nothing personal. 👍
